As we move through 2023, creating a beautiful sanctuary at home remains key.
For those looking to update their personal spaces, there are many fresh and diverse new moods on the scene that homeowners can individualise and tailor to suit their style.
“Having had time to reflect deeply on personal taste over the last three years, 2023 is a great opportunity for homeowners to express their individuality and style through their interiors,” said Neale Whitaker, interior design expert and Luxaflex brand ambassador.
“This year is all about being brave and letting the imagination run wild.
“It’s the perfect opportunity to create a wonderfully stylish home that is completely how you want it to be.”
Often seen as the finishing touch to an overall home design, window treatments can elevate a room, creating depth and warmth, while providing functionality tailored to the homeowner’s individual needs.
Transformative
“The role of window coverings has evolved significantly over the years as technology and design have improved,” Mr Whitaker said.
“With a better understanding of the transformative effect of light, the role of window furnishings today is far more than just light control, offering noise and temperature insulation as well.
“When designing your home, it’s important to remember your priorities and consider how you want to live in your home.
“When choosing design elements, homeowners should think about what they love and what they enjoy and pull this together into a cohesive design narrative.”
To assist in executing a unique style at home, Mr Whitaker, also a judge on the television series The Block, has highlighted the Natural Elevation look that captures an interior lifestyle trend for 2023, with advice on how to use the power that natural light and privacy play, through contemporary Luxaflex window coverings.
Contemporary
Natural Elevation is a strong modern style, with the theme combining warm woods, textured neutrals, robust shapes and artisanal accessories.
Mr Whitaker said a contemporary look was achieved using tones of the brown colour palette, including rust, caramel, bone with highlight touches of ruby. Luxaflex Duette Shades in Elan Birch Bark teamed with Byron Sheer Curtains in Byron Smoke, Borocay Taupe or Ashlynn Mouse, provide the perfect backdrop, creating an emotional connection to the calming environment.
Elsewhere, other style trends for 2023 include:
Colour
As people move away from stark, white Scandi spaces, expect to see pops of colour and mixed metals this year.
Kitchen upgrades
For a new-look kitchen, expect to see upgrades take in the latest trends in cooking technology, such as induction cooktops, steam ovens and air fryers together with technology that allows householders to save on water and energy. The latest in appliance technology is always a go-to when remodelling so consider smart appliances and those that stand out – think a freestanding oven or exposed rangehood together with Wi-Fi-connectivity for dishwashers and fridges.
Work-from-home spaces
Covid saw the introduction of work-from-home spaces for many people – now these spaces are getting an upgrade or multipurpose appeal thanks to plants and bright prints for example.
Butler’s pantry
Special appliances such as water filtration systems, coffee machines and quieter, ducted rangehoods are winning fans to improve on the sink, tap and dishwasher combo.
